Robinhood Markets Inc. (HOOD) is having a good morning. The stock moved higher Thursday as crypto-related equities gained steam following a White House summit on Wednesday where President Donald Trump doubled down on his commitment to making America the undisputed leader in digital assets and emerging tech. Nasdaq futures are down 0.10% while S&P 500 futures have shed 0.04%, so this isn't a broad market rally — it's crypto-specific enthusiasm.
The summit brought together heavy hitters from both the regulatory and industry sides. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, and executives from Coinbase Global Inc (COIN), Robinhood, Ripple, and Kalshi all sat down to talk shop. The message from the White House was clear: the U.S. wants to stay ahead of the curve, not just in Bitcoin and crypto, but also in prediction markets, AI, and other frontier technologies.
Trump Pushes Legislative Progress
The big policy ask from the summit was the CLARITY Act, which Trump urged Congress to pass. The legislation aims to establish clear regulatory standards for digital assets, something the industry has been craving for years.
“We're ensuring that America remains the undisputed leader not only in Bitcoin and crypto, but also technologies like prediction markets, artificial intelligence, and much more,” Trump said.
He described the CLARITY Act as “a very powerful structured legislation which will keep us ahead of China.”
Beyond the political headlines, Robinhood also got a boost from developments around its Robinhood Chain blockchain platform, which has been a growing focus for the company as it looks to expand beyond traditional brokerage services.
Critical Levels To Watch for HOOD Stock
From a technical standpoint, HOOD is in an interesting spot. The stock is trading about 8% above its 20-day SMA ($93.54) and about 4.7% above its 200-day SMA ($96.53), which keeps the intermediate trend constructive even after recent swings.
It's also only about 1.4% above the 50-day SMA ($99.65), so the stock is close enough to that trend line that a weak session could quickly turn into a “retest” narrative. That's the kind of level where traders start watching closely.
Momentum, as measured by RSI, sits at 50.09 — basically neutral. That suggests the stock isn't stretched in either direction and still has room to trend if buyers follow through. It's a clean slate, if you will.
The moving-average structure is a bit of a mixed bag. The 20-day SMA remains below the 50-day SMA, which is a short-term bearish alignment. But the 50-day SMA is above the 200-day SMA following the golden cross in August, which is typically a longer-term bullish backdrop. Traders often describe this combination as “bull trend, messy short-term,” meaning breakouts can work, but pullbacks can be sharp. It's a reminder that even in a good story, the day-to-day can be choppy.
- Key Resistance: $120.50 — a nearby ceiling and round-number-adjacent area where rebounds can stall
- Key Support: $93 — a nearby floor that lines up closely with the 20-day SMA zone, making it a practical dip-buy level to watch
HOOD Stock Price Activity: Robinhood Markets shares were up 5.77% at $101.30 during premarket trading on Thursday, according to market data.
